PROJECT PHASES/SCHEDULE

Where We Are Now? What Has Begun?

  • Begin Concept Engineering and Environmental Study Phase
  • Perform Ground Survey
  • Prepare Aerial Mapping
  • Collect Data on Man-Made Features and Environmental Resources
  • Perform Environmental Survey
  • Update the Environmental Inventory
  • Identify Transportation Deficiencies and Project Needs
  • Maintain Continuous Public Involvement Activities Throughout the Design Study Phase
  • Coordinate with RTA Study and with CTA

Where Are We Headed?

Near Term:

  • Maintain Continuous Public Involvement Activities Throughout the Design Study Phase
  • Assess RTA Transit Report Findings on Market Potential
  • Identify Preliminary Improvement Concepts within Corridor
  • Analyze Existing Conditions
  • Determine Reasonable Alternatives
  • Develop Plan of Reasonable Alternatives
  • Study Reasonable Alternatives
  • Hold Public Meeting

    Longer Term:

  • Identify The Recommended Alternative
  • Prepare and distribute Draft Design Report In Conjunction With the Draft Environmental Assessment
  • Hold Public Hearing
  • Select the Preferred Alternative
  • Distribute the Final Environmental Assessment
  • Prepare the Final Design Report
  • End Phase I

In order to allow adequate time for public input and for environmental issues to be identified, preliminary engineering and environmental studies are expected to continue for several years. A key interim milestone will be the determination of reasonable alternatives. The schedule for this may be dependent upon concurrent environmental and transit alternative studies.
